A couple years ago, I was involved in a project called MADExpo, or the Mid-Atlantic Developer Expo. An amazing, dedicated group of people came together and caused a spark to ignite on the east coast.
Sadly, MADExpo didn't make it to its third year because of several logistical issues.
It has always bugged me that nothing came after MADExpo. I see communities all across the country that have these HUGE events, uniting developers. I want that in my back yard.
My experience in the startup community and bootstraping business has taught me that the "build it and they will come" approach is reckless. Conferences take significant time and financial commitments, and I didn't trust that community would be involved.
Learning from my startup friends, I launched an initiative called 757devcon. It was pretty simple -- I was interested in a large-scale regional polyglot developer conference on the east coast (preferably in my own backyard) -- who's with me? The mailing list started to grow organically over months. I maintained relationships with many of the subscribers, trying to learn what they wanted. My fellow community members were pushing me too.
Then in secret, I joined forces with two fellow dev community members, Linda Nichols and Erik Olson . A couple conversations later, RevolutionConf was born.
RevolutionConf is a conference designed to unite developers from all walks of life. You are not judged by the code that you sling or the tech that you use. You are a dev, therefore you are awesome.
Our Call for Speakers has been open for a couple weeks, and you still have time to submit if you're interested. The response has been AMAZING. It is going to be really difficult to select the best talks for the day. I'm not tooting my horn when I said, you really won't want to miss this conference.
Speaking of which, early bird tickets go on sale TODAY. We are only releasing a limited number of early bird tickets, so grab one while you can. I'm rushing to get this out because we've already sold some and I want you to have a chance.
Together, we can lead the Revolution . Together, we are devs!
